About Dr. Richard Kowalsky

A board-certified obesity medicine physician with more than five decades in medicine and a background in women’s health.

Richard E. Kowalsky, MD, FACOG, DABOM

Dr. Kowalsky is a Diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine. He cares for adults with obesity and weight-related conditions in Boynton Beach, Florida.

He earned his medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine, now the Lewis Katz School of Medicine, in 1970. He is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. His years in women’s health shape how he looks at weight, hormones and life stages.

His focus today is obesity medicine: a thorough medical evaluation, a plan across nutrition, physical activity, behavior and medication, and steady follow-up to keep progress going. He treats obesity as the chronic disease it is, with respect and without judgment.

  • Personal, adjustable plans

Your plan reflects your health, your medications, your schedule and your preferences, and it changes as you do.

A women’s health lens on weight

Before focusing on obesity medicine, Dr. Kowalsky trained in obstetrics and gynecology and is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

That background matters, because weight and hormones are closely linked across a woman’s life. Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and the menopause transition both change how the body stores fat and responds to treatment, and some anti-obesity medications need special planning around contraception and pregnancy.[1][2][3]
